Abstract
Marine ecosystems of the world are experiencing fast-growing anthropogenic impact. Modern arsenal of means of struggle against degradation of ecosystems is insufficient to counter this process. The authors substantiate the need to strengthen its effectiveness by the application of ecosystem approaches in marine planning. These approaches aim to preserve the health of marine ecosystems. The article shows the principles of the implementation of ecosystem approaches in the preparation of marine plans and provides examples of their application in different countries.
