Abstract
This study takes the first step in assessing the quantitative and qualitative composition of waste. An analysis of the parameters of the largest commercial fishing operations in Russia and in the world, the pollock fishery, which takes place annually in the northeastern part of the Sea of Okhotsk from January 1 to April 9, the so-called “A” season, allowed us to formulate a new concept – the fishing natural technology system (OSFE) and develop a methodology for assessing the life cycle of the OSFE. As a result of the application of the developed methodology, it was found that annually the OSFE catches about 0,8 million tons of raw fish in the pollock fishery in the Sea of Okhotsk during the “A” season and generates about 1 million tons of various waste, most of which enters the marine ecosystem. This necessitates the improvement of the existing national waste management system generated in the fishing process, in the Russian economic zone and in areas of international cooperation.
