Justification of rope parameters for use as edges in bottom seine fishing (Danish seine)

Abstract
The paper examines the characteristics of ropes used to make edges and identifies their important parameters, and also proposes simple methods for selecting effective ropes by fishing companies and manufacturers of fishing gear. The factors influencing the efficiency of edges are shown, and the optimal ranges of rope characteristics are given based on the data from catchability studies.
