The important contribution of the meeting of scientists of the two countries on fisheries stocks to the development of bilateral Russian-Japanese cooperation in fisheries is noted.
ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS
The article shows an insufficiently justified one-time significant increase in wholesale prices for fish products using foreign exchange prices. High wholesale prices serve as the basis for retail prices, which have led to a decrease in the purchasing power of the population and a decrease in the consumption of fish products in the country. An analysis of the draft “Road Map”, developed by the Ministry of Agriculture on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, was carried out in order to increase the consumption of domestic fish products until 2030. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop internal prices using Russian exchanges and wholesale centers, taking into account the purchasing power of the population.
Marine ecosystems of the world are experiencing fast-growing anthropogenic impact. Modern arsenal of means of struggle against degradation of ecosystems is insufficient to counter this process. The authors substantiate the need to strengthen its effectiveness by the application of ecosystem approaches in marine planning. These approaches aim to preserve the health of marine ecosystems. The article shows the principles of the implementation of ecosystem approaches in the preparation of marine plans and provides examples of their application in different countries.
LEGAL ISSUES
The «Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire» is the most complete collection of legislative acts of the Russian Empire, arranged in chronological order. The legislative and regulatory acts published in it contain information about various aspects of the life of the country. The history of commercial fishing and the fishing industry is reflected in many ways in this source. The article examines some aspects of the history of the fishing industry on the rivers of the Caspian Sea basin related to the entry of Kazakhstan into the Russian Empire in 1822-1868. The issues of increasing the commercial value of fisheries during this period are highlighted.
ECOLOGY
The paper provides a comparative analysis of the parameters of the biological diversity of herring living in the Sea of Okhotsk, compared with the parameters for aggregations from other waters where this species of fish lives. As a comparison, molecular genetic indices (average nucleotide diversity, the value of single mutations), as well as a number of environmental indices (Simpson, Shannon, Margalef, etc.) are used, calculated on the basis of carrier frequencies of haplotypic variants for each cluster. It was revealed that there is a gradient of biological variability in the range of this species, which is interpreted by us as a sign of the presence of favorable or unfavorable environmental conditions for the habitat of this species. In total, 4 areas of accumulation of maximum biological diversity for herring were identified throughout its range: the southwest of the Sea of Japan, the northeast of the Sea of Okhotsk, as well as the area near the southeast of the Gulf of Alaska (between Baranov and Queen Charlotte Islands) and in the estuary section of the Columbia River. A significant (p < 0.001) correlation was found between the geographical habitat (in the latitudelongitude position) and the parameters of nucleotide variability.
The paper assesses the impact of commercial farming of Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout and mussels at the fish breeding area of the Eastern arm of Ura Bay on the natural environment. The assessment includes calculation of damage to the atmospheric air and aquatic biological resources using various methods to identify the most appropriate in terms of developing measures to reduce the impact of economic activity on the environment. Based on the assessment, the authors proposed measures to reduce the negative impact of industrial aquaculture on the environment.
BIORESOURCES AND FISHERIES
The aim of the paper is an expert assessment of the quantitative, qualitative and species composition of IUU-fishing and their dynamics for 2017-2021. Analysis and synthesis of materials of ichthyologic examinations received from law enforcement agencies in the Volga-Caspian branch of “VNIRO” (“CaspNIRKh”). For the first time, an assessment of IUU fishing of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea for 2017-2021 was carried out. Quantitative and qualitative assessments of IUU-fishing, its species composition and their dynamics for 2017-2021 were obtained. The results of this study canbe used in predictive models of the dynamics of sturgeon stocks and in the analysis of the situation with the protection of these fish species in the Caspian Sea.
Paper presents the data about the catches of the Baltic sprat in the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland in 2023 and before. The biological parameters of the sprat taken during the trawl fishing are given. The analysis of the food composition of the Baltic sprat in 2003-2004, 2008, 2020 and feed base in deepwater area of the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland is been carried out.
INTERNAL RESERVOIRS
Kuban crayfish Pontastacus cubanicus (Burst et. Winogr., 1934) is one of the priority objects of freshwater invertebrate fishery in the Rostov region. This paper presents the dynamics of crayfish production (catch) by organized fishing in the period 2016-2023. A review of changes in the state of the crayfish population in terms of size structure was conducted. The characteristic of the reasons for the change in the fishing stock and an assessment of its current state are also given.
The study deals with the results of the catch-and-release Atlantic salmon fishery in the lower reach of the Ponoi River in 2010-2022 in its annual and week’s cycles as well as in certain fishing pools. The harvest data was then compared to that of 1991-2009 and the data for the Varzuga River. The catch-and-release fishery was concluded to have no impact on Atlantic salmon reproduction in the river.
The article presents generalized data on the species composition and its changes in fish parasites of the Novosibirsk reservoir from the moment of its formation to the present day. This is a relatively small reservoir, compared to other man-made water, with different types of areas and high flow, which makes it possible to use its example to evaluate transformation processes in the species and quantitative composition of fish parasites during the transition from river to lake type reservoirs and the formation of a separate biocenosis in it. Like any reservoir, it went through the classical stages of the formation of biocenoses of artificial reservoirs, therefore, eutrophication processes played a significant role in the species diversity of fish parasites; after the establishment of a conditional biological equilibrium, the most important factor became the hydrological regime, which regulates the number of the majority of fish parasites at the level of the first intermediate hosts. Over the years of its existence, species diversity in the Novosibirsk Reservoir has significantly decreased and separate dominant groups of parasites have appeared.
AQUACULTURE
The purpose of this work was a comparative assessment of the obtained results of growing the Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus in fresh water with retrospective data, studying the possibility of its adaptation to salt water and the effect of water salinity (32‰) on fish-breeding and biological indicators of cultivation.
During 2 months of cultivation in water with a salinity of 32‰, the individuals from the experimental group obtained the best fish-breeding and biological indicators compared with the control in fresh water. Thus, the average daily increase was 3,4% higher, the relative growth rate was 10,7%, and the mass accumulation coefficient increased by 15,3%.
In this work, a study was conducted on the possibility of using the probiotic strain Lactobacillus brevis 47f in feeds for juvenile sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus). The preservation of lactobacilli in manufactured feeds and the survival rate of the strain on the mucous surface of the intestines of fish were established. In a long-term experiment (60 days), an increase in the number of lymphocytes in the blood was revealed, as well as a change in histomorphometric parameters: the number of lamina propria lymphocytes, the number of goblet cells. There was a significant decrease in the feed coefficient, as well as an increase in sterlet biomass in the experimental group, probably associated with a change in protein metabolism – an increase in the level of total protein, albumin, globulin in blood serum. The conducted studies have shown the possibility of using a number of histomorphometric data to assess the reaction of the gastrointestinal tract in sturgeon fish to feed with a probiotic strain. The results obtained suggest that the probiotic strain L. brevis 47f is promising for use in aquaculture.
FISHING EQUIPMENT AND FLEET
A longline trapezoidal design of marine aquaculture for work in the open sea and in areas with large waves is presented. Its best characteristics compared to existing designs are shown: increased holding force of anchors due to a smaller angle of the anchor line, mobility of the structure and reduced costs during installation, removal and maintenance. Methods for calculating such a structure and its modeling for different flows are presented.
